Monks Training Workshop – Ritual Arts
Ritual arts form a vital component of the intangible heritage of Buddhist monasteries. They provide the essence to the form and function of tangible spaces. Thus, we began a long term collaboration with the monastic body of Korzok to ensure a transfer of knowledge from elder monks to younger monks on the ritual arts of torma, kilkhor and chams. These ritual arts relate specifically to Korzok gompa. Over 80% of the monks were thus trained over the month long workshop led by elders from the monastic community. Subsequently, the former trainees could carry out these ritual arts at the monastery during the annual festival.
